22nd December, 2011 We are delighted to have agreed a deal with Edel/earMUSIC which will see King of number 33 released worldwide on March 23rd 2012. Digital sales will also be available then.

The official announcement, including an extended excerpt of "Me and My Downfall" the opening track of King of Number 33, can be viewed HERE.

6th November, 2011 The band are delighted to announce Nik Kershaw as the guest vocalist on Memo, the closing track of The King of Number 33. I'm personally proud and very honoured that Nik agreed to do this for us as I've been a fan of his writing and music for many years. His performance is fabulous and is one of highlights of the album for me. Nik is joined by Ainsley Wills, a great friend of the band and one of the North East’s finest guitarists, Ainsley lays down the first of two guitar solo's in the track.

23rd October, 2011 The King of Number 33 micro site

23rd October, 2011 The Final Lineup Change

Having inducted him into the Band by the consummation of vast quantities of Ale at the Black Bull and Black Lion, we are delighted to welcome Mark Kelly as the new Keys player in DeeExpus. Please give him a warm welcome friends.

3rd September, 2011 First of Two Lineup Changes

Ok, time to start with the announcements. Firstly the album is very close to being finished (before you ask ;-)) and I think it's high time we announced one of two new additions to our line up. Ian left us a little while ago and we'd like to wish him all the very best, he's a fabulous guy, a wonderful player and a total gentleman.

Assuming the role is a man I've known for around 20 years and is, without doubt, one of the most talented bassists I've ever heard. He's been working with us on The King for a while now and, complementing Henry's style magnificently, has applied his tight, percussive technique perfectly to three of the five tracks (including the 27 minute title track). Friends, please welcome on Bass Guitar;
Mr John Dawson.

More news coming soon, stay tuned ...

30th August, 2011 RosFest 2012

We are delighted to announce that DeeExpus have been invited back to perform at RosFest in 2012, following our appearance in the prestigious "Church of Prog" Sunday morning slot last year. We will be opening the festival proceedings this time round on Friday 4th May, so will be all fresh and ripe to get you well in the mood for a memorable weekend. We hope to see all of our friends from last time and hopefully meet some friends that we haven't met yet. We have some pretty spectacular announcements pending over the coming weeks which we hope will not only serve to enhance our trip back to Gettysburg, but also to get you as excited as we are to finally ride with The King.

See you in 2012, May the Fourth be with you :-)

25th June, 2011 The King's artist

Ok, so you may have clocked the artwork on our website for "The King". This was commissioned following another one of those quirky coincidences that follow this band around (or was it part of the divine comedy by Dionysus).

Andy's long time friend Andrew Hancock held a house party which was attended by Andrew's “Uncle Gav”. Andy had met Gavin Mayhew a few times prior to this party having previously admired his paintings adorning just about every wall of Andrews house. Being aware of their mutual interest in the arts, the conversation turned to the new album and would Gav be interested in doing the artwork? Naturally he was and a meeting was arranged in the Black Bull, Wolsingham (where DeeExpus were formed). Andy rang Tony to inform him of said meeting and had he heard of a local artist called Gavin Mayhew? "heard of him?" Tony replied, "I've been sick all over his carpet and fallen asleep in his studio several times". It turned out that Gav, once a native of Wolsingham, was renowned for holding bacchanalian parties of which Tony was a frequent attendee. Tony was thrilled at hearing Gav was to do the artwork as his work is synonymous with Weardale and can be seen throughout the region (including just about every pub sign). This seemed fitting based on the King's origins.

The meeting was held accompanied by a couple of cheeky beers and the general precise of the story was relayed to Gav. Some brainstorming later and a clear direction that we wanted to avoid the cliched and overused heavy metal look of knights, skeletons, blood, demons etc and Gav had a basic premise on which to create.

All went quiet from Mr Mayhew for a while until one day Andy sent Tony an email with no text and with an attachment entitled "The King". Tony opened it with a sense of excitement and... The result is what you see here. Tony was delighted at the way Gav had encapsulated certain elements of the tale and is sure that when you hear "The King.." you'll be drawn into the picture as he was.

You can see more of Gavin's fantastic work at HERE

18th May, 2011 Chapter Two of The DeeExpus Chronicles published - see the band biography section.

22nd April, 2011 Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates here. The paucity of information could lead the casual observer to think that all was quiet in the world of DeeExpus; no news = nothing happening. Well fair friend, that is an almighty misassumption. Like a swan, we have been beautiful to look upon from above, serene and quiet as we gracefully glide across the placid lake of prog. Yet take a look beneath the waterline of this calm facade and you will see the hidden hive of industry as we propel ourselves purposefully onwards towards the completion of album two. Unfortunately all comparisons to swans must end there as we aren't the property of the Queen and we can't break your arms with one flap of our wings.

The writing is complete on the album, minus the odd bell and whistle here and there, and we are now in the painstaking process of committing what has been written to record, or more correctly in this modern age - hard drive.
Some songs are almost complete, others not so but getting there.

Suffice to say that we are incredibly pleased with what we've done so far and we're itching at the bit to release this to you, oh unsuspecting reader.

Also coming soon is a brand new band biography giving a level of insight into DeeExpus like never before.

We will keep you updated here on our progress (more frequently than once a year, we promise!) and hope that you are as excited as we are regarding the impending arrival of "The King"

13th December, 2009 'Half Way To A Gig' - A DeeExpus Tale

This is a reproduction of a reader's letter submitted to the recent edition of Classic Rock magazine.

Personal Service
Last night I went to see Touchstone and DeeExpus at the Wesley Centre in Maltby and what a great gig it was. I already owned both Touchstone CDs but DeeExpus were completely new to me and I was most impressed. So much so that I decided to buy their CD, but by the time Touchstone had finished their set DeeExpus had cleared their merchandising desk. So this morning I ordered their album 'Half Way Home' from their website. and expected to receive it in the coming days.

I then went up into the loft which I was clearing of old rubbish, when about 1pm my wife called up the stairs to say some men were here 'from the CRS'. I went downstairs and found DeeEXpus on the drive personally delivering my CD - they were passing close to my Maltby home on their way to Southend for the Sunday night show and thought they would deliver the CD. That is what I call good service - two hour delivery by the band themselves. I would just like to thank the band for doing this and to say that it was great to meet them albeit very briefly as they had to rush off to get to Southend by 5pm, I look forward to seeing them at the CRS again soon.
David Jenkinson

The actual letter can be read HERE together with the magazine's response.

Please note: delivery of DeeExpus merchandise by the band in person is not guaranteed J

31st October, 2008 Having had set back after set back over the past year, the addition of Kev has finally pulled the band sound together and rehearsals are going very well indeed. So well in fact, that we are pleased to announce a single date in January 2009 to get us underway. The Venue will be The Forum Music Centre in Darlington UK on Saturday January 24th with support from Aimless Mules. Tickets are now available priced at £7.50 each. To order click HERE and we will send you an email confirmation followed by your tickets once we receive them back from the printers.

29th October, 2008 Firstly, some disappointing news. A few weeks ago Leigh Crowther reluctantly announced that he could no longer afford the time commitments to the band and left. The band were sorry to see him go, but realise that some things in life need to take priority. Leigh has been very committed over the past year and his effort and enthusiasm were second to none. The band would like to take the opportunity to thank Leigh and wish him well for the future.

So now for the uplift! - We are very pleased and proud to welcome Kevin Jager to the band - Kev is a fantastic drummer and joins us from prestigious prog cover band “Prognosis”. Those of you who attended The Classic Rock Society gig in Rotherham last year may have already witnessed his prowess. Kev has settled in VERY nicely and is adding immeasurably to the sound of the band.

21st June,2008 Album Review By Frans Keylard:

"Half Way Home" Is The Debut Album By UK's DeeExpus Project. Musically, "Half Way Home" Occupies A Rare Crossroads Between The Progressive Guitar-Rock Territory Carved Out By Porcupine Tree's "In Absentia" And The Exquisite Pop Sensibilities Of A-Ha's "Minor Earth, Major Sky." This Album Delivers Big On Memorable Moments, And Begs Further Exploration During Successive Listens.

I Just Can't Get Over How Surprisingly Solid This Release Is, Considering It's A Debut Album. Throughout There Is Excellent Song writing, Timing, And Musicianship - Nothing Is Wasted. Half Way Home Is A Contender For One Of The Year's Best Releases, And I Will Be Surprised If This Band Remains Unsigned For Long!

Highly Recommended!
